“The mission of the school library program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information; students are empowered to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information.” (American Association of School Librarians)
The library collection includes fiction and nonfiction books, audio-visual materials, and access to online databases. We continue to expand and update our fiction collection with newly-published and classic books. To increase access to information and resources, we extend our non-fiction and reference collection with online database subscriptions which are available 24/7 from any computer with internet access.
The library is open on school days, 7:30 am – 3:00 pm.

Behavior Expectations in the Library
The library is intended for quiet study, research, and reading.
Students are expected to:
- Sign in at the circulation desk on arrival in the library; sign out when leaving before the end of the period.
- Have a pass to come to the library and obtain a pass to leave.
- Come prepared to work; be productive.
- Work quietly; speak in low voices.
- Demonstrate respect for others using the library.
- Demonstrate respect for school property and library materials.
- Use computers for academic purposes, per the Technology AUA.
- Consume food only in the café table area.
- Follow all school rules and policies.
Library Procedures
CHECK-OUT LIMITS:
- Students may check out up to three books.
LOAN PERIODS:
- Students check out their books for a period of three weeks.
- Students may renew an item by bringing it to the library, unless others are waiting to check it out.
- Students will be held responsible for materials that they borrow.
- Students must return overdue books before additional books may be checked out.
OVERDUE NOTICES:
- Overdue notices are emailed to student's school email address at least once a month.
REIMBURSEMENT FOR LOST OR DAMAGED BOOKS:
- When a book is lost or damaged beyond repair, the student is asked to reimburse the library so that the item can be replaced or a similar one can be purchased.
- Lost or damaged books must be paid for before additional books can be checked out.
- Payment for a lost book is reimbursed should the book be found and returned in good condition.
- A book that is damaged beyond repair becomes the student’s property once it is paid for.
- Notices of outstanding books and/or debts remaining at the end of the school year are turned in to the office.
- Any items checked out at the time a student withdraws from school must be returned or paid for upon withdrawal.
