Copyright

Make sure your presentation doesn't violate copyright laws -- especially important if you use online presentation tools.

How can you tell what uses of the work of others is allowed and what isn't? Here are some examples:

  • I'm doing a PowerPoint and I want to embed part of a video created by someone else;  what is the maximum length video clip I am allowed to use?
  • Is it OK to photocopy chapters from a book to hand out to an entire class?
  • I want to have background music for my presentation. Is it OK to use a song I purchased on iTunes?

There are many websites with information to help you learn the answers. Links to a few of these are below.
