Civil War

resources for projects on the Civil War

A few hints:

When searching the library catalog, or OPAC, (link below), the official subject heading is

United States -- History -- Civil War, 1861-1865

but there are variations of it, like:

United States -- History -- Pictorial works -- Civil War, 1861-1865

There may be biographies of individual people you are researching or they may show up in collective biographies or comprehensive books about the Civil War. Don't give up if you don't find them in the first place you look.

Online databases and electronic reference books:

Vermont Online Library

The Biography in Context database will be very helpful for this project!  You'll need a password to get on the VOL, but it is the same as it was last year. If you don't know it, ask Mrs. Kissel.
