In addition to the resources listed below, there are books in the library on the cold war which may contain information about the person you are researching. You may want to start your research by searching for the person using the library catalog (Alexandria). It includes links ot Biography in Context entries on most of the people you can choose for this project. If you don't find anything, check your spelling and/or try an alternate spelling of the name (see list below).

The Vermont Online Library (VOL) will be an excellent resource for this project. These will probably be the most helpful:

Biography in Context

A biography database which is part of the Vermont Online Library (VOL). Search for the person you are researching and you'll end up with some good, authoritative resources. 

Gale Virtual Reference Library

The GVRL is a collection of eBooks available through the VOL. Search for your topic and your results will be a list of articles from different reference sources. 

 You should not need a VOL password. If you have any trouble accessing VOL resources, ask Mrs. Kissel.

 Encyclopedias: 

  • In the library, try the World Book Encyclopedia. 
    • Remember, people are found by their last names! 
    • There is an index volume that can get you to the right article(s). 
  • We have a school subscription to Britannica School.  
  • Britannica School
    • You do NOT need a password to access Britannica School while you are in the NMHS building. If you plan to access it from home or elsewhere, get the password from Mrs. Kissel or your teacher.  
    • In addition to the article(s) on your topic, check the "Related" tab for other Britannica articles and web sites that relate to your topic.
